BEAUTIFUL DAY!

Eeeek I'm so excited I don't even know if I'll make it through this post!?!?! This morning I had a job interview (sorry I can't tell you what it is) and it went really well, or at least I think it went really well lol. If I get this job I won't have to work my other 2 jobs, & I'd actually get to spend time with my family!! In addition eeek I would have the same work schedule as David so we could do lunch dates & cute stuff like that! Anyways, I hope I'm not getting too ahead of myself, because it's not for sure but how can I NOT GET EXCITED?!?!?!

On another note In my long 21 years of wisdom, I don't know what it is but I like putting myself in uncomfortable situations (Don't worry I'll explain). There's just something about not letting stupid little self-doubts prevent you from doing what you want no matter how small. For example, I drive by the same little Mexican restaurant at least twice a week, and I've always wanted to go in but it's super authentic so I was nervous(I KNOWWW I"M DUMB). Anywho since I was all hyped up from the interview I felt invincible so I decided to go in. As soon as I walked in everyone started staring at me, and no it wasn't the "omg what a fashionable/chic young lady" haha it was the "...uhh are you lost"... anyways I just walked up to the server & ordered my 2 al pastor tacos togo & kept a huge smile on my face. I swear SMILES are amazing, they cross all language barriers & dissolve stupid misconceptions moral of the story I left the restaurant feeling happy that I went against my comfort zone & excited to go home and eat my tacos ... which is what I'm doing right now & getting salsa on my keyboard ahhh!

SPRING BREAK '11 / EASTER WEEKEND

So this past week has been just what I needed I got to spend time with my family, eat yummy food, go shopping,  go to a soccer game & best of all not do ANY homework!! I wish I would have snapped more pictures but here are just a couple <3

Lady In Red

A couple of weeks ago my friend Sara turned 22, and I had the challenge of deciding what to get her for her B-day. I am a firm believer that thoughtful personal gifts are better than pricier gifts. Since I knew that she was redoing her bedroom in black, white, and red I thought to myself hmmm.. I'm gonna make her a piece of art that goes perfectly in her new room. Since I'm artistically challenged I enlisted some help from my Momma-in-law (she's a talented artist & art teacher) so that Sara might actually enjoy the artwork. So blah blah blah let's see the final product ... dun da da dunn!!!

trash vs. treasure

I went thrifting today (imagine that?!) Today was my final day of not having to work or go to school :( Spring Break you really came & went TOOO fast!! I usually focus more on clothes and slack on jewelry & accessories but I'm trying to break that bad habit. Not to mention it's a lot easier to hoard jewelry than clothes. So here are a few of the pieces I picked up this afternoon...

The first 2 are my favorite & I did some intense research (wikipedia) on the bird in the first one. It's a raven used in many indigenous stories according to my "accurate" source, they describe the raven as a "trickster" which made me like the necklace even more because I'm quite the little trickster! Well I like to think I am haha anyways I'm off to go watch D.C. destroy the Redbulls!!

STOP HAMMMOCK TIME!

I had a fun little backyard photoshoot Monday with my friend Mian (the same one I went thrifting with!) She let me borrow her Rayban Club Masters for the look as well as the high waisted jean shorts. I really like the bright red pop of the lipstick in contrast to the neutral tones of the outfit. These pictures however made me realize that I need to be more conscious of what I eat & to exercise more lol especially in time for swimsuit season! So far my spring break has been fun, relaxing, & I almost feel accomplished. I'm excited for tomorrow because David & I are going on a date to the D.C. United Soccer game with some of our coupled friends. Yupp I'm off to work hope everyone's having a GREAT DAY!!

Moroccan Feast

Whewww ... I'm shocked that I'm even able to type after all of the delicious food I got to eat last night. Like I said in the last post we went out last night to celebrate one of my BEST BEST BEST friend's birthday. She was turning the big 2-2 , so we decide to go to this cool Moroccan restaurant in D.C. called Marrakesh. The restaurant is such an interesting experience it's reservation only and you can only enter the restaurant if someone on the inside lets you in (thanks for making us feel V.I.P. lol) after that you're escorted to your table which is surrounded by little cushions & couches covered in colorful patterned blankets. They serve you 7 COURSES!!!

PS: you're only allowed to eat w/ your hands so they wash your hands prior to eating w/ rose water (very cool)

1. SALAD (carrots, cucumbers, & eggplant in a tomato sauce)
2. PASTRY (a huge pastry stuffed with chicken, eggs, nuts, & honey ... best part is that it's topped w/ powdered sugar)
3. CHICKEN (an entire roasted chicken flavored w/ lemon & olives ... it was so tender it melted in your mouth)
4. LAMB (ehh not my fave it was too fatty but it came in an almond & honey sauce)
5. COUSCOUS (couscous lol)
6. FRUIT & NUT PLATTER (apples, oranges, bananas, & walnuts)
7. BACLAVA & MOROCCAN TEA (MY FAVE, GOLD MEDAL, A+)

needless to say we ate very well last night. If you're ever in D.C. & with a large group of friends who don't mind all eating out of one platter I'd definitely recommend this place. Oh yeah best of all they have a belly dancer who preforms half way through the meal & she was excellent (I'm a belly dancer expert) !

Red Rover Red Rover

The long awaited first day of Spring Break came early for me yesterday, thanks to my 2 hours of sleep. I showed up to life guarding after school & was venting to my boss about how exhausted I was & he suggested I go home & rest! This suggestion to go home & rest couldn't have come at a more perfect time considering that yesterday was my friend Becca's birthday & all of our friends were gonna be celebrating it at Union Jacks. So instead of resting I started curling my hair, piling on the makeup, & trying to do anything I could to look a little more lively. This outfit is such a "Typical Wave" outfit as all of my friends would say. I was a little over dressed for the pub but I really didn't care because I hadn't been able to dress up in a while so wth. The lace up wedges I'm wearing are one of the pairs of shoes I bought the other day when I was sad lol. They're sooo comfy the sole of the shoe is kinda spongey so they were the right choice for last night because after 10pm they turn the pub's dining room into a dance floor. Overall it was a wonderful night filled with friends, drinks, dancing, & laughing! The perfect remedy for a long week & a great way to jump start my Spring BREAK!!!

There is no doubt in my mind that I'm writing this now it a state of complete delirium !! I got home from work last night five til midnight, went so sleep around 2ish, and woke up this morning at 4 A.M.!! to do my hospitality project (we're going to pretend I didn't have over a month to work on this project :)  Anyways I have exciting news!! ( and no I'm not pregnant I'm just gaining weight lol)

... yupp that's the exciting news, sorry I've been waiting for this day for what seems like FOREVERR!!

sun/burger day

Started off today with a delicious burger with all the right toppings provolone cheese, avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, bacon, sauteed onions ... what more could a girl ask for? Yupp... nothing too interesting around here, except that I bought 2 new pairs of shoes impulse shopping with my sister-in-law ( I hate that term) who made a surprise visit from NY! I will be posting pics of the new shoes, but this week is gonna be crunch time since it's the week before Spring Break so I'll basically be dead for the week, hope you all have something more enjoyable to look forward to this week!!

rendezvous a la thrift store

This past Monday instead of studying for statistics I decided to meet up with my friend Mian at Unique & Value Village thrift stores in Silver Springs. It was a sunny 88 degrees!!The wonderful beautiful weather & shopping was just what I needed to start my week off in the right direction. I scored 2 beautiful skirts, one is coral & the other is fuchsia. I was also lucky enough to find an adorable free people tank top as well as a navy blue tie-die tank top. My favorite purchase from the trip was a chunky chain link necklace which is definitely going to be making many appearances in my outfits this Spring. Oh yeah & to top off a delightful shopping trip we decided to grab lunch at the little restaurant inside the thrift stores (ps: the thrift stores were huge & they were connected to each other, it was a dream!!) we each got a chicken quesadilla with a side of rice ... sooo YUMMY!! I'm definitely looking forward to going back there again soon, but first things first I need to get rid of some junk in my closet to make room. I'm gonna leave you all with some pictures from our little trip!

to eat my feelings or to shop my feelings .. that is the question

...when in doubt, I say why not both? For some reason last Sunday I was in a really down mood and just couldn't shake the rain cloud that was hanging over my head. The worst part about it was that I couldn't even pinpoint why I was so upset lol (talk about feeling kinda crazy) ... anyways it was 9pm at night so what's a poor girl to do?? I made the wise decision to go to Target, I was hoping that all the bright and cheery colors would lighten my mood up however I still found myself sniffling and tearing up while looking at the jewelry. I don't even want to know what my fellow Target shoppers were thinking when they walked past me. Wow so the moral of this story jkjk I bought some cute necessity-ish type items ... minty nail polish + a top coat polish, revlon nudey-ish lipstick more leggings & jeggings, a lint roller?! yeah basically there was no logic to the shopping haha but I feel like that's when it's the best ... oh yeah & I ate 5 doughnuts the morning before (and I'm not talking little doughnuts) so high ho high ho it's off to the gym I go !! Yupp what an exciting week recap NOTT but I do have several things to look forward to for this weekend <3

so after weeks of procrastination I finally finished the studded button-up I was working on & I love it!! The whole idea stemmed from tragedy (when my studded head band broke & I was left with 2 broken stretchy bands & a handful of studs) but I wanted to do something with the studs & luckily enough I had a huge man safari shirt in need of some T.L.C. in the form of bling .. here are the results!!
