Today's post is brought to you by bad eye site, specifically mine :) I have been wearing & dropping eyeglasses since the 8th grade. I used to hate wearing glasses (sometimes I still do, when I'm laying down watching TV & I have to push them to the very end of my nose so that I can see through them) but now I kind of enjoy them & now a days it's fashionable. I've always worm small simple glasses like my current glasses pictured below, but I want to step out of my comfort zone!

Wheww what a jam packed SUNDAY (but I'm not complaining)! I first started off at a yummy brunch at Hudson hosted by the ladies of Spicy Candy DC & then went to Mint for a ZUMBA class hosted by Jenni of Comme Coco. More on all of that later :)This past week I got to leave work early Thursday & it was AMAZING I mean the sky was beeeautiful & I had time to do a quick little d.i.y. before making dinner .. it's kind of ridiculous how domestic I'm getting, granted it was mac&cheese but that still counts :)

I told you it was spectacular out!

I found an old pair of plain rhinestone earrings while unpacking & I got a little "Sharpie" happy!

It's seriously the easiest d.i.y. I've ever done lol you just color the rhinestones & you're done :)

I wore them today to brunch, but I'm already plotting another little project with these earrings.

Last night DC area bloggers united at Cities to celebrate Cap FABB's one year Birthday!! It was a packed event filled with fabulous bloggers, yummy snacks, bubbly champagne, & also GORGEOUS flowers EVRYYYWHERE courtesy of H.Bloom :) Ohh & I forgot to mention the most popular feature of the night was the Photo Booth <3 Who doesn't love having their picture taken multiple times being surrounded by wonderful friends?! Needless to say I made a couple trips to the photo booth :)

MAD HOUSE

Ok so we are finally "MOVED" in to our new home which loosely translates to "ALL of our EVERYTHING is scattered in boxes/suitcases/purses etc. all throughout our new apartment! I had to idea how exhausting & expensive this move was going to be. I know that it will be worth it but right now we're living in a "MAD HOUSE" which will hopefully turn into a beautiful little bungalo. Here's a peek at the terror that was our old room ...

yupp .. can't wait to keep all of you up to date with little things I fix up around our new house :)

One of the things I "LOVE" about my husband is how he N E V E R gets sick of tricking me or playing pranks on me .. it really never grows old to him as was the case today. Last night he went on about how Valentine's day is dumb & girls are the only ones who get anything out of it blah blah blah etc, so I wasn't expecting to get anything, but to my surprise at 4:50 my co-worker runs in with flowers, chocolates, a teddy bear, & a cute little card! I was more shocked than anything & even though V-day is one of "those" holidays it still made my day :) PS: don't ask about the weird pet name lol it's a long going inside joke. Also please excuse the crazy bangs I woke up @ 8:05 & I have to leave by 8:10 you do the math!

Just a little lovey-dovey Valentine's day inspiration for you, & in more good news we're moving out tomorrow !! So excited & I will keep you all filled in the entire way :)

Carbs, Caffeine, & Cabs

This past Friday David & I took the bus up to NYC to visit his sister & her husband for their Birthdays. The bus ride was cramped & awkward since we made the mistake of sitting at the table which meant awkward eye contact with the random couple sitting across from us for the next 4.5 hrs lol.

we arrived in NYC around 12:30ish & $40.00 later we were on our way to BROOKLYN!

I decided on a bright pink & 1 glitter party nail ... which turned out to be not quite the party I hoped for because she only did 1 sparkly coat so it looked stupid lol .. oh well at least my cuticles look better!

After pampering ourselves we met up with the boys for the BEST SUSHI EVERRRRR, Zen Sushi :)

So delicious especially for the price. I had 4 rolls but the "Spicy Dragon" was my favorite!

this is about as NYC as you can get lol. We picked the pizza up after the Birthday festivities & for a $1 a slice I ended up eating 4 :) Whatever you only live once & this pizza was on point!

It was kind of strange being in NY during Fashion Week but not being at Fashion Week with all my friends, but I can't complain. We had such a fun filled day & a half, NYC it won't be long until we meet again!!

MEGAAA-RUSH

As usual I didn't give myself enough time to pack & catch the bus, but miraculously we made it! I'm blogging from the Mega bus as David & I are on our way to celebrate his sister Jessica & her husband Carlo's Birthdays. I'm bummed I'm not attending any of the NYFW madness, but thanks to all my lovely bloggerina friend's constant updates I feel like I'm there :) Here's a couple little snippets from this trip so far, enjoy!

1) I was listening to this song while rushing to pack 2) I couldn't focus at work today knowing I'd be on my way to NYC in a mere couple of hours 3) My trusty "tribal" bag that goes everyyyywhere with me 4) Stocking up on caffeine for our long bus ride!

Our "plans" for tonight are to meet up at a club where our friend is DJ-ing but I'm not sure how I feel about leaving my laptop unprotected at a random bar ...ehhh sketchy

COLD NIGHTS & WARM BODIES

Several weeks ago I was contacted by the Washingtonian to put together an outfit on how to stay warm on a Saturday night on the town. I was seriously SOO excited to put together an outfit, since this is the 2nd time I've even been featured in a major online publication :) The link to the article is here, where you can check out the other bloggers who put together outfits! We also got to share a tip on staying warm & winter wardrobe choices but, you know I talk A L O T so I gave 2. Here's the little blurb that I submitted :) One major thing that I don't think any girl should ever give up (especially in cold months) is her shape! In these chilly months all I want to do is bundle up, and I want you to know that you CAN dress warm without looking like this. The key is finding a coat that fits YOU, one of my favorite coats that I own is this navy blue coat from Forever 21. I love that it is long enough to shield most of my body from frigid winds, but that it also has a belt which cinches at the waist thus showing your feminine curves!

In the winter it's easy to get into the habit of wearing dark and neutral colors, don't get me wrong I'm all for that but I'm a firm believer that a little color goes a long way. If you're nervous about wearing colors you can always ease your way in by including bright accessories and makeup. My favorite choice for adding color to my typical makeup routine is a bright bold lip in either fuchsia or a bubble gum pink. I also like to paint my nails funky neon colors to try and trick myself into feeling like I'm on a beach in Miami! If you like your makeup but still want to amp up your winter look thrown on some bright colorful bangles and a fun chunky cocktail ring.

LAND & SEA

I stole this post title from a SUSHI ROLL!! & yes I'm getting that desperate for new titles jkjk. Earlier this week David & I celebrated one of our many anniversaries aka I LOVE any reason to celebrate & eat :) We went to Yellow Fin, a steak & seafood restaurant which sits right on the water in Annapolis. We headed over there right after work to make it in time for their delicious HH menu. We pigged out on the crab & gruyere pizza, crab & artichoke dip, calamari (more on that later), & the FAMOUS "land & sea" roll (lobster & filet mignon). It will become apparent in the picture below that I got "a little" carried away with the scissors & now have bowl-cut bangs ...

The roll was topped with a delicious horseradish sauce which paired perfectly w/ all the other flavors!

Now on to more serious matters ... the CALAMARI or as we coined it the "new" KFC. I'm NOT a picky eater I seriously like almost everything but this calamari SUCKEDD!! It really tasted like the breading that's on KFC chicken it was nasty & was really disappointing, but we did have a good laugh at the idea of KFC changing for chicken to calamari :) Overall it was a delicious dinner & as always wine never disappoints. After dinner we walked around the mall for a bit & I somehow refrained from buying anything (so proud of myself). Can't wait for tomorrow I'm getting "crafty" on a Valentines Day Project plus I have special styling plans for Saturday so stay tuned :)

D.I.Y. BFF BLING

This is a super quick & simple d.i.y. post that I thought you ladies might enjoy!! I had this beautiful colorful friendship bracelet that I purchased in Cancun last year for $1. I also bought this cheesy rhinestone choker-esque necklace for under $5 the other day at the thrift store & let me tell you they were made for each other :)

to create this blinged out BFF bracelet you'll need a "friendship" bracelet [I think the flat ones work better], a strand of rhinestones either from a necklace or bought in bulk strands, needle, & thread

I cut the necklace in half & decided to use the side with the clasp that way I could use it to link on to the loop at the other end.

I lined up the rhinestones with the bracelet & sewed in between each rhinestone 3 times to keep it in place. YES, it really is that simple :)

Madewell + CAP FABB

Last night was another wonderful meet-up, held for a second time at the Madewell in Georgetown! I knew it was going to be a great night when I was greeted by Lacey who was rockin a "FLOWER POWER" suit, it was seriously adorable! As soon as I walked up the steps I was overwhelmed by all the new faces & fantastic outfits. One of the first bloggers I had the pleasure of chatting with that night was Leslie from Fashion Needy. It's so much fun getting to meet people in person after following their blogs & getting to know them over the internet. After talking I ran strait over to the cupcakes & champagne :) Ok, enough talking on to the pictures! OMG I forgot to tell you I looked like an extra from a 1960's movie .. don't worry you'll see what I mean soon enough lol. This is a side effect from getting dressed in your car & not having access to a full length mirror!

after the meet-up several of us [10+] walked up the street to Paolo's where Cheralee & I spent the remainder of the evening getting brain freezes & making mustaches! Birthday Weekend!

What an amazing weekend! As all of you know Saturday was David's B-day & thanks to all your sweet comments his head has grown even larger!! I decided to share some pictures from our weekend :)

Today is my husband David's birthday!! We celebrated a little early last night with an impromptu shopping spree to ON, Gap, H&M, & Marshalls. I was so excited that he wanted to go shopping it was almost like a gift to me lol :) Then we went to Brio for their late night happy hour (All the bar food is $2.95) so we pigged out. Anyways, I was so excited to give him his gift (A new soccer jersey) that I made him open it last night .. I'm kinda really impatient, but he LOVED it so that's all that matters! This afternoon we had chinese food with his family followed by cake (which I made & will post later). Tonight we're going to Power Plant in Baltimore with some of our friends to celebrate. Brunch @ El Centro

So you know this isn't a personal style blog right?! Haha it started out as one, but it's pretty much turned into a food diary :) In the last post I showed you all the pretty outfits & the beautiful people who attended, but now I'm gonna show you the YUMMMY food that we feasted on!

Each guest of the event had a personalized sketch waiting for them to mark their seat at the table.

I am freaking in love with all of the drawings & on top of that I got to meet the artist in person! His name is Bidkart & his work is fantastic you can check it out here.

I was sipping on these scrumptious Pineapple Aqua Fresca Cocktails all afternoon & let me tell you they were FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC! Like really you need to try one :)

Spicy Candy DC Anniversary Fiesta!

Whewww! What a fun filled weekend :) This past Saturday I had the pleasure of attending Spicy Candy DC's Anniversary Fiesta at El Centro. It was such a fun venue, we had most of the basement level to ourselves & it was such a comfortable space to mix mingle, snack, & most importantly snap photos! Our lovely hostesses for the brunch were rocking La Petite Marmoset reconstructed skirts & beautiful smiles!

Happy MLK day everyone! There's something about a 3 day weekend that makes me feel like I'm 10 years old again. This weekend was packed with fun things :) I got to spend time with my FAVORITE little man Zachary, attended SPICY CANDY DC's 2 YR Fiesta [post coming soon], ate yummy Korean Food, went THRIFTING [2 times], & caught up on SHOWS with David!

FUZZY WUZZY WAS A VEST

This cheeeesey title is dedicated to my cheesey-lover Katherine! Anyways, today I went THRIFTING for the first time in forever!! I really felt like I was visiting an old friend as I stepped through the doors.. dramatic much?! But really, I <3 the thrift store & I hadn't gone in forever so I was really looking forward to seeing what new items they had. To cut to the point they did NOT disappoint :) The items that caught my attention were a pair of vintage blue sequin heels. Normally I'm anti kitten heels because I think they're dumb lol "make up your mind already you wanna wear heels or you wanna wear flats?!" but these shoes were so comfy & adorable that I caved in [also they were under $5].

After grabbin the heels I spotted a HUGE over-sized floral scarf. I love big snugly scarves that instantly make an outfit chic & practical for these chilly days. I also bought a simple little blue bracelet to add to my "arm party" collection :)

Last but not least I found a "fuzzy wuzzy" black faux-fur vest [$20]!!

I have been wanting a fur vest for a while now & I was very happy to snag this one today!

It's not super thick which I like because that way it doesn't look bulky & the length falls right at my hips so I'm a happy happy girl :)

To add onto my fun filled Sunday, following a delicious brunch we "dropped by & d.i.y.'d" @ Studio 85. It was my first time at Studio 85 & from the outside it may look like a normal shop, but once you step foot inside you're transported to a crafty & creative space with countless possibilities! For this d.i.y. we were creating unique detachable collars from vintage blouses & studding, pearl-ing, & sequin-ing them up :) I forgot to mention that there were also red velvet cupcakes there [yumm] which was the perfect dessert for my brunch!

... well lovers & best friends :) Last night I finally got to visit my friend Jessica who was back home from school for winter break. She's just one of those friends that "gets you" & you can have a blast doing anything with. Anyways, we had a fun night of dancing, laughing, & eating. I'd say 2012 is starting out great! Here's a picture from last night before going out.

To give you some background on our friendship we both volunteered in Australia for a year [back in '07&'08] & became the best of friends :) We use to throw "parties" haha & we would be the only ones that attended them & we would have a specific "theme" for each party. First off, I should probably explain the title which is a direct quote from my Momma. As some of you may or may not know I grew up in Columbus, Ohio before venturing East. As a teenager I spent countless hours walking & shopping around Easton. Let me just tell you Easton Town Center is no ordinary mall it is beautiful, huge, & one of my FAVORITE places to shop & grab a bite to eat when I'm back home visiting the fam :) So if you're even in Columbus for whatever reason you N E E D to go to Easton! & Then tell me ALL about it because I can talk about it for days .. I should seriously pursue a career promoting them jkjk So the day after Christmas David & I strolled around there, checked out some books at Barnes&Noble, & met up with my Parents & Wyndra [my little sister] for lunch!

To continue with this "heavenly" post OMG seriously I could survive on the top 2 dishes [who knows how well my arteries could keep up] for the rest of my life & be oh so H A P P Y! We had lunch at one of my favorite restaurants Fado [there are several locations], it's kinda loud & has an old-time pub feel to it with plenty of international soccer fans yelling at multiple TV's but we were lucky enough to find a comfy & quiet spot. This place must also have magical powers because Wyndra & I were able to take a "nice" picture as my Mom calls it. I made my Dad order the cheese dip & wedges to start off with & everyone LOVED them .. obviously & to continue on my potato appetizer craze I ordered the quesadilla as my meal deeelishhhioso!! Ok sorry but seriously so good :) Overall it was a whirl wind of a trip but it's always great getting to see my fam. I've got some more pictures from Ohio that I'll put up later.

Eeek so weird that it's 2012! I had an interesting start this morning .. waking up at 8:15 the time I should already be on 50 on my way to work, almost got a speeding ticket on my way to work [at a police station how ironic], only to find out that we're closed for today .. yay communication :( Anyways whatever since we didn't have work I had time to do this post :) I got home last last night from NY & had a delicious greasy lunch with Daivd at 5 guys so I'd say it's been a great day!

Waiting for the bus which was an hour late!! Only to miss the bus trying to get back to D.C. yeah story of my life lol but luckily I caught a later bus thanks to my wonderful friend Min <3

Met up with my sister in law for shopping & lunch // I'm in love w/ her studded fuchsia flats!

I finally bought a hard case for my phone it's white & quilted//My CRAZY NYE outfit which I didn't end up buying [THANK GOD] but you can kinda see my new phone case

Don't worry I'm planning on wearing both shoes & a dress this NYE I promise there will be no nudity lol. I have a serious dilemma that I need your assistance with .. is it the SHOES that make the outfit or the DRESS that makes the outfit?! I have definitely been a slacker this year in terms of picking out the perfect sparkly NYE dress so I was thinking "can I rock a HOTT sexy shoe w/ a low key dress?" I need your help!! I'm leaving for N.Y.C. right after work tomorrow so I'm in a sort of panic mode. It's that time of year!! Uhh no NOT Christmas or New Years it's my

1 YEAR BLOGOVERSARY!!!!

I started this post last night at the airport but I was too exhausted to finish it until today. I can't believe it's already been a year [as of yesterday] that I've been blogging. Hello from Ohio! It's freeeezing here like seriously it's colder than D.C. :( It's been such a whirl wind these past couple of days! I didn't sleep Wednesday night because I still had laundry & packing to do, PLUS I'm crazy & scheduled us a flight at 6:30 A.M. which meant leaving the house pretty early. We barely caught our flight, making it to the plane with only 4 minutes to spare!

Of course instead of packing at 3 A.M. I decided to "beautify" myself aka putting on lipstick & painting my nails ... so that I could "pack correctly"

For those of you who don't know I've been pretty dead to the world for the past couple of days :( I have had the most annoying cold//sore throat everrr but it seems like it's passing so I'm excited! I can't believe David & I are off to O-H-I-O tomorrow @ 6 A M ... ahhhh too early

[what was I thinking scheduling it so damn early ?!]

The other day my wonderful friend Jeanine was in town & she is always FAB-U-LOUS to say the least so I decided to wear makeup for the first time in 5 days lol .This is my first time attempting a makeup tutorial so it's kinda rough but it was kinda fun at the same time.

1) Mix a tiny dab of foundation-esk tinited liquid makeup with a neutral unscented face lotion & blend it in ALL over your entire face. It's a light way to even out your skin & moisturize it. [I've had that Mark-Kay tube since high school which was 5 years ago!! this stuff lasts forever]
2) I just put bronzer EVERYWHERE!! I picked this one up at Nectar a couple of months ago & I love it!
3) I'm NOT a fan of this blush but I haven't found one that I like so I picked this one up just to hold me over.

I'm not one of those people who uses all the cool preparation makeup ... until last Christmas when my friend gifted me this "Shadow Insurance" from Too Faced.

It's seriously amazing & holds everything RIGHT where it's supposed to be :)

4) Spread a teeny tiny bit of the Shadow Insurance over your entire eyelid halfway up to your eye brow.

5) I like to start out with a neutral base coat so I used the cream color one pictured above to the right. Since it's such a neutral soft tone you can put it all over your entire eyelid and even go all the way up to right underneath your eye brow if you want .. but don't get too crazy :)

6) This color is so fun & sparkly I put it right in the crease as well as a little bit above it & continue it out to the end of my lash line & putting a little bit of it on the outside corner of my eyelid.

7) This eye shadow can be overpowering so I use a light layer at a time & build it up to make sure it's not too much. I use this one also in the crease but extend it up & out once you get to the end of the lash line.

8) This trick I THINK makes a hell of a difference if done right!! Use a shimmery white cream shadow to highlight right underneath your brow bone all the way to the end of your eyebrow & blend into the darker eye shadow underneath it so it looks more natural.

9) I would have never thought in a bajillion years that I Waverly, former owner of the name "werewolf face" would be needing the assistance of a brow pencil to make my brows look fuller lol. It makes a huge difference though if you flash between the 2 pictures of my eyebrows above you'll see a huge difference. One key point is to make sure you don't push too hard with the pencil to ensure that your eyebrows don't look like they've been tattooed on ... unless you like that look.

10) I just started using kohl liner this past summer but I love how BLACK it comes out & this one by TARTE stays on all day! I use the round said to apply it from the outside corner of my eye to the inside. I try to make it thinner as it reaches the interior of my eye. I'm bad at explaining the liner part, but Meek~N~Mild has a great eyeliner tutorial you can watch HERE which I highly suggest !! [& she's totally adorable]

11) I like a little bottom eyeliner but I only put it half way across my bottom water line starting from the outside & then I top it off with a TON of mascara :)

I hope everyone's weekends have started out GREAT!! Unfortunately I'm DEFINITELY under the weather my ears are ringing my nose is running & my throat is hurting :( But I decided to do a quick post from last Wednesday's Blogger's Night Out @ Bloomingdales. I personally had never been to a Bloomingdales before so when I walked in I was "kid in a candy store" mode. This past weekend was "THE" weekend of the cupcakes & I was not complaining! It started out with making cupcakes for a co-workers son's 9th Birthday & ended with Georgetown cupcake with an old friend & a new friend :) Yummy baked sweets make everything better, as do great friends so all in all I had a fantastic weekend!

Contrary to what you may think the cupcake on the left is homemade! Yes, it looks professional but that's because my mother-in-law is super duper talented at E V E R Y T H I N G! The cupcakes on the right are from the delectably A M A Z I N G Georgetown cupcake :) Don't worry they aren't ALL mine. I look exhausted (I was) but it was so wonderful seeing an old friend & of course CUPCAKES!

My bff from high school Kat (pictured above with me) made a quick little impromptu visit to D.C. this past weekend & it was so GRRRREAT seeing her & meeting her cousin Tiffany! We played basketball together in high school & even though we hadn't seen each other in years it was as if no time had passed. We sipped on Starbucks & walked around U St. & Georgetown.
Hopefully my weekend sugar rush will still be going strong enough to get me through tomorrow :) I get to leave 4 hrs early so I'm going to get a very much needed haircut! Another old friend of mine is flying in from New Orleans this weekend so you can be sure I'll have plenty more to write about in the upcoming days.

PS: last night was a blast [blogger's night out]! It was my first time @Bloomingdales *gasp* I know ... I know but I can assure you it won't be the last. I'll try & post pics from the event tomorrow.

WHAT I WANT WEDNESDAY VOL. XIII

Good morning ladies, I hope you're all doing well! I'm sitting here drinking my tea & trying to get over a sore throat :( There are only 11 days left til Christmas & I'm so excited to be going back home to Ohio this year to be with my family! It's been freezing out as of lately & I've been forced to bundle up which is against my nature because I have this weird theory that .. "If I dress like it's warm outside it will magically get warmer" needless to say this theory doesn't work & could possible result in frost bite. To combat the cold I've been on the lookout for fun tights so I thought to do a holiday hosiery edition of WIWW. I'm also blaming the cold for my hair being super dry & crunchy so I've decided to trim it :( most likely it'll only be 2 inches but I hate cutting it!!
If you're curious about how my Art Institute meet-up went you'll be happy to know that I LOOOOVED it & I might possibly be starting as early as this January but things are still up in the air. LPM After Party!

After a wonderful evening even at Violet we decided to continue the party at Little Miss Whiskeys. I already knew that it was going to be a good night because we had such an awesome group of people, but after opening the door & hearing the jams the DJ was pumpin .. I knew it was ON!!! OMG I haven't had so much fun dancing the night away in a while :) The night was filled with old school favorites & the BEST part Katherine's dance battle against the mysterious man in the hat! Although it took a little toll on my body the next day at work it was totally worth it!

First off I want to say thank you so much to all of you who left such sweet & encouraging comments on my last post regarding me following my dreams!! I love having all of your support it makes it so much easier to try new things & shoot for the stars :) I'm really excited because there's a CAP FABB event tomorrow night at Violet [click here for more info]. I have no clue what I'm going to wear yet, but that's part of the fun. What are you going to do with your life?? Such a daunting question am I right?? I've personally been struggling with that question for the past couple of months since I took a semester off. It's hard to choose between the "responsible" thing to do & what your heart really really reallyyyy wants to do. I've always loved picking out clothes & making outfits for my friends but never thought that I would ever be "good" enough for a career in it. However, I have come to the conclusion that I need to live in the moment & follow my dreams. Ohh the cliches haha but whatever I'm excited & I just finished scheduling an appointment to check out Washington D.C.'s Art Institute for next Monday!! Who knows what's in store for my future, but at least this way I can look back & say I least I gave it a go :) I looked pretty rough today so instead I'm going to show you what I wore to Carmel last week for another CAP FABB event & also a random little thing I whipped together in Polyvore because I was inspired by this image.

I have been quite the lazy blogger as of lately. I've just been exhausted & very very busy. I've spent today catching up on laundry, washing my car, & eating lots of homemade lasagna. I've been obsessing over clean, crisp, white interiors thanks to pinterest :) I find it amusing that I'm drawn to it since I'm also so obsessed with color, but there's just something about all white that just looks perfect!

The Brunch Bunch

This past Sunday afternoon I had the pleasure of enjoying another lovely brunch at Tryst with Gwynne, Mian, Anya, & Ashley! I tried to eat a tad bit healthier than the last time [fruit bowl & guava cream cheese puff] .. if you don't remember you can check out the recap here. I'll give you a hint a LOT of nachos were involved. We spent most of our time at Tryst chatting about boys, clothes, & food as if that should come as a surprise. After fueling up we decided to stop by Violet boutique. It's a good thing I don't live any closer to it, because I would be spending each & EVERY paycheck there! They have such cute & unique styles. I already have one piece from them a lovely one shoulder dress which I looooove so you know that I couldn't wait to but another piece from them :)

SOCK BUN

Sock buns have been popping up everrrrrywhere so I thought I would give it a go! There are different ways you can do sock buns. You can tuck the hair in the bun as you go .. or you can take the easier route like me & follow the simple step's at Lacey's blog. I really really liked the end result it looks very polished & sleek which is pretty incredible if you saw how reckless my hair was before.

La La Looove the bun & can wait to do my hair like this again!

Yes, you guessed it! Another misleading title. I chose "spoiled goods" because I spoiled myself this past week by buying several pretty items :) In my defense I was trying to Christmas shop for other people, but kept finding stuff that was "so me" .. yupp I know crappy excuse .. Oh Yeahhh & in other exciting news I finally got my business cards! If you follow me on twitter @WaveeeyB you probably know that already. Speaking of twitter I still SUCK AT IT but whatever I'm like a fine wine & I'll get better with time .. ok I'll stop it's kinda late & I'm deliriously tired because I ran 3 miles tonight.

I spotted this little clutch-esk//brief casey thing at the Thrift Store last week & bought it because my laptop fits in it & I only have one other clutch *gasp* I know I know so I thought this was a little more casual & still "practical".

Confession time, this is the first time I've ever picked up an issue of Nylon & I'm pretty sure I'm addicted. Each page was so much fun with all the color & it helps that Rachel Bilson is freakin adorable!

The nail polishes are actually part of one of my friend's secret santa gift, so I hope she doesn't read this post. I bought them at Forever 21 [LtoR Black/Silver, Gold, & Eggplant] .. congrats F21 for the most boring nail polish color names of ALLL time jkjk but I feel like they could up with more clever ones.

I LOOOVE this lipstick!! It goes on super creamy & I already had this same type of lipstick in G07, but it's pretty much a stump now so I bought another one that's super similar it's G08 .. yeah I don't stray away from something that I know works :)

Yupp, now I have to take a shopping hiatus for a bit but I'm happy with my purchases :)

Thanksgiving Recap

I celebrated Thanksgiving this year with my husband's family. It was so great to have his entire family together, there were lots of embarrassing stories from their childhoods as well as plenty of food to go around. I'm so lucky to have a mother-in-law who is such a FANTASTIC cook! Anyways, I thought ahead this year and made sure to wear stretchy pants so that I could eat to my fullest potential :) I snapped a couple of pictures, unfortunately there's only one of David & I ... and it "speaks" for itself lol. I was in a really goofy mood when I took my outfit pictures so they're kinda weird. . .

Yes, I've been having a little too much fun with all the alliteration in the post titles but sadly it's coming to an end. I slept in the morning sooo exciting & then went to the mall where I scored my first pair of Jessica Simpson shoes. They're a 1/2 size too big but whatever they were on sale & cute so I made it work. I love left overs so I've been snacking all say. What was your favorite thing you ate yesterday?? Mine was a tie between mushrooms, sweet mashed potatoes, & pop over rolls. I think I'm still full from yesterday, but am proud to say that I got most of my Christmas shopping completed!! Just a couple little odds & ends I need to snag up but most of the heavy stuff is done. This blog is turning from a "fashion//outfit" blog into a "sweat pant//food" blog haha who cares. I'm going to do a Thanksgiving post later, but I'll leave you with my sexy outfit from today & my new shoes :)

Dinner @ the River

Yupp .. the title pretty much says it all. Last Saturday night for dinner we decided to visit my old work, Stoney River. It's always bitter sweet eating there because I miss all the awesome people I used to work with & I want to go back to working there again. We decided to eat there because David was craving a good steak. The food there is DELICIOUS!! & I'm not just saying that because I used to work there :) The bread is so good & probably the reason that I put on some extra pounds when I worked there [whoopsies] it's so good that I don't even feel guilty. It'a a deep fried yeast & poppy seed roll served with a honey cinnamon butter! There were more in the basket but I gobbled them down before I could take the picture.

Starter: WHISKEY SHRIMP

Sooo freakin gooood ughh 4 jumbo shrimp sauteed in whiskey, grainy mustard, & heavy cream served a top of toasted french bread .. omg I can smell it now yummm

DAVID'S DINNER: NEW YORK STRIP
Served medium rare with carmelized onion mashed potatoes .. aka the closest thing to heaven on EARTH .. no but really they're that AMAZING!

WAVE'S DINNER: SCHEZUAN SALMON SALAD
I made this up when I worked there. It's blackened salmon in a killer sweet & spicy sauce on top of mixed greens, diced tomatoes, BACON, & slivered almonds! It was surprisingly filling & I didn't feel like dying afterwards from being too full [Always a plus].

YES ... I wore the necklace again I seriously pair it with EVERYTHING!!!

Curly Girly

This weekend was just what I needed! I caught up on some laundry, curled my hair [sucessfully!], & ate lots of yummy food! I never thought in a million years I would by "curling" my hair. For most of my life I've had curly hair, & when I was a baby I had a legit FRO. However, as time has gone on my hair has become much more strait naturally [I'm sure it has nothing to do with me straitening my hair religiously for over 8 years]. Of course now that I occasionally want curly hair, my hair REFUSES to curl ... except for Friday night :) I think the only reason that it stayed curly was because I used soo much hair spray omg it was pretty toxic, but w/e the point is it worked. I used Suave professionals touchable finish spray in SUPER HOLD, & SUPER HOLD it did I think I've still got hair spray in my hair. The curlers I used were Conair & I just took teeny little pieces starting from the bottom up & it worked!!

Are you ready for some skin?? Just kidding the title was misleading. Instead of cleaning my room I painted my nails!! I have been "biting my nails since I could chew" according to my Dad so I've found the solution, PAINTING THEM. Well .. at least I don't bite them for a couple of days if they're painted. It seems like everywhere I look I see glitter & sparkle so I thought I'd paint my nails super duper sparkly :) Beware I have ugly crooked fingers haha & it's also very difficult to "model" nailpolish so forgive my awkward gremlin hands.

Now I can't stop looking ay fingers because they're blinging out of control, I LOVE it <3

After having a wonderful day off Friday filled with Mexican Train, Wine, & Packing I didn't think I'd be able to wake up for a Saturday morning brunch but THANK GOD I did!! I met up with my friend Mian at Tryst [where she works] where we started off with coffee & mimosas followed by a conventional Chorizo & White Cheddar Frittata followed by the not so conventional Nachos Locos @ 10:30AM but as I always say anytime is Nacho Time :) The nachos were a bit overwhelming, but we were definitely up for the challenge. It was such a fun cozy atmosphere & I can't wait to go there again to try their waffles!

I don't know if I'm going through a mid-hair-crisis or what, but lately I've been so bored with my hair. First step bangs & then this past weekend I decided to dye it. Yes, it was with box color don't worry all my stylist friends have already yelled at me, but it's a recession & I can't afford a salon! Anyways my little sister-in-law Veronica & I both decided on the same color "Light Auburn Black" by L'oreal Paris. We both had different hair color in out hair so the shades turned out different on each of us.

Madewell & Refinery 29 [pt.1]

This past Thursday I had the pleasure of attending the Refinery 29 event hosted at Madewell in Georgetown. It was so much fun & it was a packed house filled with some of the most stylish & fierce looking people that I have ever seen. Every time I'd turn around//bump in to somebody I would seriously have to take a second to check them out & see all the fabulousness that was going on :) I wore a vintage dress that I had thrifted the day before for only $3.00!! Unfortunately since I was coming strait from work I had to get changed in the car & my hair looks all sorts of crazy. Anyways, on to the pictures!

I was so lazy this year for halloween & my costume took a total of 1 minute.

Black zip up= fake cop jacket, dark blue v-neck= cop shirt, sticker= cop badge, & duck tape=police

It was actually my friend's idea for the costume & I thought it was hilarious since I work at a police station.. Yeah needless to say my cop co-workers weren't really fans of the costume .. oh well :)

[Also my hair looks really weird I P R O M I S E I DON'T have a mullet!!]

The night before after Nikki cut my hair we carved pumpkins, needless to say she's way better at carving pumpkins that I am. I kept it simple with the ghost coming out of the jack-o-lantern & she did the awesome mummmy!

They're Back!

After doing my red outfit post here I noticed that I really don't have a lot of red in my wardrobe so I bought this red button-up at H&M for $7!! Also, I was inspired by Lacey's statement necklace she wore to the Loft opening here and I got lucky and found a similar one the other day at the thrift store. This is the outfit I wore today to get my bangs cut & if you scroll down you'll get to see the end result!

For as long as all of you have "known" me you have never known me with bangs ... but all that is about to change :) I'm getting bangs cut this weekend & I'm really excited! The funny thing is that for the last couple of years every time it starts to get chilly out I decide it's time for a change hairstyle wise. The problem is that I'm a chicken so I never do anything super drastic, bangs are about as crazy as I get. I'm going to take you on a trip down memory lane with my previous bangs

My relationship with them is very LOVE//HATE some days they look great other days they're all over the place & I'm thinking "WHY DID I GET BANGS ?!? YOU IDIOT!!" .. Sorry for that little rant, the good news is that I will hopefully have pics posted of my new do by Monday!!

Christmas aka my IPhone came early!

Ok first off I have to let all of you know I have N E V E R had a cool phone .. really like never! So I was super excited when my upgrade fell close to the same time as the release of the new IPhone 4s [I even like typing 4s]. Sorry don't hate me but I didn't think I'd become obsessed with my smart phone like EVERYONE I know but the sad truth is that it sadly took less than 24 hours. This post is pretty much dedicated to my first moments with my shiny new baby :)

After looking at how awkward my face is maybe I'll spend a little less time smart-phoning away [probably not]. Yesterday was such a fun day after picking up my phone David & I went to the mall to get ideas for Christmas presents!! I ended up buying some eye shadow from Sephora & 2 tops from H&M :) I'm going to try & make a makeup video tutorial but I have a serious talking problem [I can't shut up] so the video might end up being 10 years long... who knows. Tomorrow's Friday what's everyone doing for Halloween??

You know how everyone has such awesome phones these days?? Let me just tell you I am NOT included in that everyone. I won't even tell you what phone I'm using these days .. yes, it's THAT BAD! The good news is that since I've never had a cool phone I decided to treat myself to the IPhone 4S [also it was time for an upgrade]. I'm so excited, I just got the E-mail stating that it's on it's way! Now that I have a cool new phone I'm facing problems I've never had to deal with before like A C C E S S O R I Z I N G haha I know it's not a problem but these days there are so many options. Lucky for me I came across Society 6 they have such a crazy huge number of options for IPhone Cases so I picked a couple that I liked for this week's WIWW.

LOFT opening

Yesterday I attended the opening of the new Loft store is Georgetown. The best part besides free champagne, an awesome DJ, scrumptious Georgetown Cupcakes [I had 3 I have no self control], & great company was that LUCKY magazine covered the event along with Lacey. I had a lot of fun just checking out the new fall styles as well as taking pictures & chatting with some of my fellow CapFABB bloggers. It's always so cool putting an actual face [not photo] to a blogger after you've followed their blog. Congrats again to Lacey and hopefully one event at a time we'll show the rest of the country that D.C. is dressing to impress :)

Ugh, I've still got a bad case of the Mondays so I thought I'd share this little person who always finds a way to cheer me up!

His name is Zachary but we all call him Moose. His mom & I are really good friends so I get to enjoy kids without having to have one just yet. This was this past July when we had a play-date! As you can tell he's VERY patriotic so much so that he wouldn't set that flag down ALL day even when we were in the pool.

Several weeks ago you might have read [this] post about the Capp FABB meet-up at Nectar. While there I purchased some bronzer from them since my current bronzer at the time just had soooo much glitter in it! I much prefer a more subtle bronzey glow than a tan disco ball face.

It's kind of hard to get a good picture of the actual color "salsa", so I thought I'd just take a before & after picture of my face with & with out it.

Ok I'm warning you I have N O makeup in either of these pictures except for bronzer in the 2nd one to show you the difference .. so yea beware.

it's not some crazy drastic difference but for me it's just enough to even out my skin & give me a little glow :)

ps: the bronzer has a subtle fragrance which I can't define, but I LOVE it !

top bun thrifting

Yesterday I tried doing a "top bun" for the first time. While at first it reminded me of my old baby sitter "Aunt Phillis" I'm pretty sure I'm obsessed with them now :) I'm the type of person who re-does my hair roughly every 5 minutes. I'm either taking it down so I can pick my split ends or putting it back because I'm sick of it being in my face. This my friends is the solution!! It was out of my face & secure enough that I didn't have to worry about it falling down every 2 seconds, plus I just thought it looked cute! I've seen this style around on several websites the 2 that I remember are Sydney & Geri. You should try them & then send me a pic of them! Well I'm off to Panera for a lazy brunch with David :)

PS: I went thrifting with Mian yesterday, but didn't buy anything :( I tried on a cute leather skirt & a beautiful over-sized fuchsia sweater but something just didn't fit right with either of them. Oh well at least now I know what 2 pieces to keep a look out for! Happy Sunday <3

curls & laughs

This is a bit of an update post from this past Thursday when we went to see Aziz Ansari. He was preforming his stand up @ University of Maryland, which is where my husband goes to business school. When David mentioned that he bought tickets to see Aziz Ansari I was super excited because I've watched him on comedy central & I personally think he's pretty damn funny!!

Ignore my face in the top picture, because the important thing is my HAIR! It never curls nicely whether it be a curling iron, straitner, or hot rollers. But I think I may have found out the secret behind great CURLS [for my hair, no promises for yours lol]. & that secret is ... Your hair has to have J U S T been freshly washed & blow dried. In the past I'd let my hair air dry & then the next day I'd think to myself "hmm self don't you think your hair would look better today with some curls in it??" yeah moral of the story I used hot rollers on fresh clean hair & rolled the curlers from the bottom of my hair up to the top & away from my face. Next time I use them I'm definitely going to spray a product on them afterwards so they last longer! Please let me know what's a good hairspray!! I can't stand the sticky stuff :(

These little moccassin-esk flats we're hiding for quite some time, but luckily in a desperate cleaning frenzy they were rediscovered!! I've seriously worn them ALL week, as you can see they're holding on to dear life .. they've been through a lot but I L O V E them :)

&& these last couple of pics are from the stand-up to prove that I really was there & that I'm not some crazy fan that hallucinates lol.

He was soo funny & I keep trying to re-tell his jokes to my friends who weren't there but ughh I suckkk at delivery so there goes my dream of being a comedian :(

Oh well it's Saturday & I'm about to meet up with Mian to go thrifting & then running! We might do a 5K next month [crossing fingers] .. Happy Weekend !

Ok so the title is a little bit daunting and dramatic but I'm so O V E R this hunt for the perfect OTK boots [Over The Knee] lol thanks Vivi for filling me in on the new lingo. So as some of you know I ordered 2 pairs of shoes here a pair of Dulce Vita ones & a pair of Chinese Laundry ones. Before you waste another moment of your life reading this you need to know that the BOX that the shoes came in was better than the SHOES in the box. The box was huge so I made use of it!

Ughh I don't want to just blow up & vent throughout this whole post but I'm seriously disappointed in both shoes :( I was nervous about the black boots because it's hard to find a leather material that doesn't look cheap. The "grey" boots were frustrating because the color shown here is a lighter color that I liked a lot as opposed to the darker shade that they were in person. The next pictures are kinda awkward because I didn't know how to take a good shot of me wearing the boots so they're kinda funny.

Excuse my ghetto graffiti arrows lol. Both boots stuck out at a strange angle in the front & just made the entire shoe look weird. By now they're probably half way home back to heels.com. Oh well as they say [I think someone says] the best things fall in your lap when you're not looking. I know I totally butchered that quote but you get what I mean.
On a brighter note I just got back from seeing Aziz Ansari preform his standup & he REALLY is too funny I really enjoyed his show! It made me want to be a comedian, but my husband has so kindly reminded me that "babe you're not that funny" haha too bad that only makes me want to be a comedian even more! Welp, that about wraps it up for me GOOD NIGHT :) & sorry for breaking my promise about the ranting about the boots .. whoopsies

My 5 Fall Goals

Happy Humpday! I woke up to a fun post I got tagged in from the gorgeous Kat of Mary & Dyer. The tagged post is about you guessed it .. My 5 Fall Goals :) The 5 goals that I picked out are not anything crazy or life altering, but they're actual goals that I have a shot at reaching!

1. I want to call my little sister Wyndra more often, & be a better BIG sister to her :)

2. I want to plan another vacation for my Husband (David) & I

What AN AMAZING TRIP going through the photos it was so hard to pick just 1 pic!

We went on a week long cruise to Mexico, Grand Cayman, Haiti,& lastly Jamaica.

It was so beautiful & our first vacation EVER just the 2 of us :)

3. Care less about what people think of me & TAKE MORE PICS IN PUBLIC!

I L O V E food .. it isn't a secret lol, & I love taking pictures of it as well as my outfits.

Although I love those things I often get self conscious about what those around me will think.

examples: "What has she never seen food before?" "Her outfits NOT that CUTE why is she taking a picture of it?"

Anyways, it's time to come to terms with it. It's my life & if I want to enjoy & document it by taking a bajillion pics then

I CAN DO THAT & I DON'T HAVE TO FEEL STUPID! [lol]

4. Come up with a "couples" costume for Halloween this year.

YES ... you're correct we did go as Jersey Shore for last year's Halloween [guilty]

I had to put SOOO much bronzer & hair gel on David [chronic pasty boy] to achieve the Pauly-D look

I have 2 bras on stuffed with socks to achieve J-WOW status

It was a lot of fun, but I really don't have too many ideas for what to do for this year & I'm VERY open to suggestions! The year before this or maybe 2 years I don't remember I went as Sarah Palin & David was just my husband or Sarah's [lol] but it was pretty funny.

5. Stop & Take time to BREATHE & be GRATEFUL.

It's so easy to get all tangled up in it & get stressed out. I'm trying to take at least a couple moments each day to just really enjoy the simple things & to realize just how many wonderful things I'm surrounded by on a daily basis!

So for those of you that follow my blog you're probably familiar with my search for the perfect boots for Fall. I'm happy to say that that search has finally come to an end! While I was online shopping **cough working cough** I stumbled across 2 pairs at heels.com, they we're both so awesome that I couldn't decide so I ordered both & have vowed to only keep 1 pair!! They're scheduled to arrive tomorrow so I'm pretty pumped :) Here's a pic of each of them. I'd love to hear what you ladies think about them & which pair you think is cuter.

So I know that some of you are probably sick of my face I know I am lol. I want to do more fun creative posts but the lighting in my room is so bad & my real camera is still dead so for now we'll just have to deal w/ crappy face pictures. On another note last night was another CAP FABB meet-up this time @ NECTAR. When I tell you that this place was gorgeous & luxurious I mean TOP NOTCH it went so far beyond all of my expectations of what a "skin bar" should be & look like. The inside was dripping with crystal chandeliers & gorgeous displays filled with a million different products! I bought a bronzer from them & I'm looking forward to using it this winter to keep a little bit of a "glow" going on. It was such a great event & it was lovely to meet some new friendly faces! Here are a couple pics from before the event when I was trying to figure out what I was gonna wear & how I was gonna do my makeup. Hopefully Gwynne will let me steal some of her pics from last night so you guys can get a better idea of how awesome Nectar was.

It's Wednesday & let me tell you the day has been dragging ... anyways that's ok because it gives me time to do a post :) Last night I went to a wonderful CAP FABB event in D.C (more details later) while there I purchased some new bronzer because the one I'm currently using has a few too many sparkles & by few I mean sometimes I feel like I'm a walking disco ball!! So yeah I purchased it & I LOOOVE it so I'll share the details on that later when I have time to take a picture of it. So with this new FANTASTIC bronzer I need to invest in some new brushes. I've been using the same ones I bought at Target like 3 years ago at least ( I wish this was a joke).
