MIGUEL Live @ Howard Theatre

Ok, when I tell you that I have been in love with Miguel's music from the FIRST time I heard "All I Want Is You" on the radio it is true!!! I listened to that song on repeat for days on end until I drove David crazy :) I can't believe that last night I had the pleasure of seeing him live in concert <3 I've been to other concerts in the past, but never to one that I knew all the words to every song. I attended the concert with Keri of Diva State of Mind (click here to see her recap) & I couldn't have picked a better concert buddy! It was a full venue & I was so beyond EXCITED when Miguel came back for an encore singing "Vixen" because I scooted my way up to the front :) I didn't quite make it to grab his hand but I'm pretty sure we locked eyes! I definitely suggest anyone who even slightly likes his music to make sure to see him live if you have the chance. Also, be sure to check out his new album Kaleidoscope Dream coming out this Tuesday October 2nd!

Naturally Keri & I ended up matching in our boots, leggings, & cross-body bags (on accident). I'm so glad I wore flats since we were standing the entire time. Ahh such a fun night that I have already re-played in my head a billion times today at work, next up I need to find another concert to go to!
I'm sure most of you have been to concerts before, do you have any recommendations or favorite shows? Also, I'd love to hear what you wear to them since I had a bit of a tough time picking an outfit & ended up with this basic one. I Can't believe it's gonna be Friday in a couple of short hours!! This weekend we're celebrating my little brother's 21st out in D.C. & I'm even moooore boosted because my sister & brother are coming down from NY to celebrate <3

Music & Style: Molly Hagen

This post is the first of a 3 part feature showcasing local musicians & their style! First off we have Molly Hagen, who I had the pleasure of meeting several months ago at the NYFW Hair Workshop at the LPM Studios. From the first time I met her she had such a warm & sweet nature to her not to mention the most amaaazing blonde hair. This girl is a triple threat brains, beauty, & T-A-L-E-N-T so I had to share her with all of you!!
As you can see she has come a long way from overalls & kool-aid hair. I had so much fun working on this project with Molly & I'm so happy that I can share her music with you :) Not only can you listen to her online here, but you can SEE HER LIIIVE this Thursday the 27th at the IOTA Club & Cafe in Virginia at 8 PM!!

Tasty Tuesdays: Online Inspiration

As much as I wish I could say that I make something exciting & unique every night .. that would be a LIE! That's ok though, because I have plenty of delicious food inspiration just a couple scrolls away :) Since I didn't make anything "cool" in the past couple of days I wanted to share with you some of my favorite food websites that I enjoy reading  looking at. These are by no means the only ones I look at, but these are a few that I grabbed for today.

I LOOOVE this blog so much!! Not only is it entirely dedicated to grilled cheese (which would be enough for me) but she is too funny & she uses the craziest cheeses (one of them is GREEN). All of her GC have unique names & I just really really enjoy her blog .. go check it out  :)

Can You Stay For Dinner?
Ummm first off YES!! Can I stay forever?!? & just eat everything you make. First off anything that comes stuffed in a fried wrapper I'm ALL about especially when it's stuffed with buffalo chicken & bleu cheese crumbles :) I love this blog because she rights like you're her friend & she's just casually chatting with you about how she's going to make a scrumptious dish A++

Love On High Heat
Where do I start with this lady?! We first became blogging buddies a while ago & immediately bonded over food (naturally)! I love that she comes up with most of her recipes from scratch & that she makes such interesting dishes & drinks that I would never think of. She's such a sweet heart & she usually publishes her food posts at night which is DANGEROUS when I'm laying in bed cruising the internet trying NOT to have a midnight snack :)

I hope that you enjoyed this quick little post about some of my favorite foodies out there in cyber space. If you have any favorite food blogs or you are a food blogger I would love to check out your site or any that you recommend! To see more of my favorite recipes you check out my Pinterest board here :)

On another note I have a special 3 part series on Stylish Local Musicians which kicks off tomorrow, can't wait!! PS: I'm going to hear MIGUEL tomorrow at the Howard Theatre & I'm way too freakin EXCIIIIITED, he's been my favorite for a while now ahhhhh off to go run laps around my apartment <3

Outfit: Brown Bag Lunch

Happy Sunday! I just wanted to do a quick post on a simple casual outfit that I wore yesterday to grab food. This shirt is so versatile & is definitely a staple piece that everyone should have in their closet. It's so easy to dress up & down as well as to tie up with shorts, or wear long with leggings.
We ate at Busboy & Poets, which is quickly becoming our go to date night spot since the food is always delicious & it's close to our house. I would definitely suggest the mussels & the "Rustic" pizza next time you go :)

To Wedge Or Not To Wedge

Decisions decisions .. I NEED YOUR HELP!! I know that wedge sneakers have been trending for several months now with everyone from bloggers to celebrities to Vogue fashion editors wearing this fashionable shoe. As much as it'd be amazing to own a pair of Isabel Marant wedge sneakers I don't see that happening since they cost a pretty pricey penny! Lucky for me that every other shoe brand picked up on that so there are tons of other affordable options that look ridiculously close to the original. Another selling point is that these shoes are freakin versatile!! Don't believe me that's fine because I have proof :) I have seen these wedge sneakers worn with summer dresses, leggings, jeans, skirts, shorts .. you name it & these shoes work .. aside from maybe a ballgown or something crazy. Anyways, I guess it sounds like I've already convinced myself that I NEED these shoes, but I wanted to hear what you guys think of the style. Ugly, Cute, or you could care less?! Below are a couple of pictures of stylish ladies wearing their wedge sneakers :)

TARGET // TOPSHOP  // ASOS  // ZARA

I have a giftcard to Zara, so I'm leaning a bit in that direction, but I also like the Asos version a lot. Anyways, I'd love to hear your opinions on this trend or if you own a pair where'd you get them from & how do you like them?!

On another note HAPPY F-R-I-D-A-Y-!! I'm really excited because myself & some other DMV Fashion bloggers are going out to celebrate our friend Cheralee's Birthday tonight <3 Hope you all have some fun stuff to look forward to this weekend :)

Tasty Tuesdays: Easy Shrimp & Grits

I've had this pin on my "healthy food" board on my pinterest account for far too long (several months)!!  Although it's a really simple & quick recipe I was somehow overwhelmed by it until last week when I concurred it :) OMG so I know I say this about almost every meal but I could seriously eat this for dinner every day!! It's seriously so delicious & it has all the elements creamy, crunchy, & so flavorful.
I used 1/2 a red pepper, 1/2 green pepper, 1/2 an onion, & a generous handful of mushrooms
Before you season the shrimp & grits you need to have all the seasoning goodies ready
I seasoned the raw shrimp with Cajun Seasoning & Lawry's Seasoning Salt
I used a stove top grill to cook the shrimp, but you can also saute the shrimp in a frying pan with olive oil. I cooked them on medium/high heat for about 3 minutes on each side until they turn opaque.
While the shrimp are cooking you can start to saute the vegetables in another pan thus getting all the "hard stuff" out of the way.
YES!! I used instant grits, but I don't care because they were freakin scrumptious! Pop one packet in a bowl with 1/2 cup of milk & put it in the microwave for 1 minute & 15 seconds. Once it's done mix in Garlic Powder, Cayenne Pepper, & Worcestershire Sauce to taste or you can follow the measurement here from the original recipe.
Of course what could make this delicious dish better?!? CHEEEESE <3
I added the cheese to the grits right away so that the grits would get all gooey & cheesy!
Finally, top the grits with the veggies & the shrimp :)
Not much more I can say about this dish except that YOU NEED TO MAKE IT!! I've already made it twice since the first time I tried it last week :) Are there any dishes that you've been wanting to try & make but are too nervous? If you have a dish that you want me to try & make leave me a comment & I'll try to whip it up for a future Tasty Tuesdays post.

Video: D.I.Y. Studded Sweatshirt (Football Season)

I wanted to share with you a quick little video of a D.I.Y. project that I did last night. It's not some Earth shattering creative D.I.Y. but it's a fun one that's perfect for Football season! It's very easy to blend in with the crowd at tailgating events & games when you're wearing the same T-shirt that every other girl is wearing from Pink :) Don't worry I'm not hating on those shirts, but if you're not in the mood to spend $25 on a t-shirt or $50 on sweatshirt from Victoria's Secret I'm here to share with you a quick & cheap way to spruce up the pieces that you already have :)

I hope the video didn't cause more confusion so I provided some picture below to guide you as well!
I know this was a simple D.I.Y. but I hope that you liked it none the less :) Once I get the sewing down a little more I'm going to try this on some Ohio State gear, YES I'm a BUCKEYE  O-H-I-O!!! If any of you end up D.I.Y.ing or studding any sports gear leave me a link in the comment section because I'd love to check it out. Also, if you're having trouble finding studs I bought mine here on e-bay. I'm probably going to go stud crazy now & start cutting up all my shirts so beware of more studded D.I.Y. projects :)

If you want to see more studded d.i.y.s I've done check these out!

Dew Drop Swap

Yesterday I went to my first Dew Drop Swap in Chinatown. First off the view was absolutely ridiculous, Kristine knows how to pick a venue!! It was a gorgeous day filled with good company, delicious cupcakes, & refreshing cocktails. We also had a Fall trend report given to us by Monica Barnett of Blueprint for Style who got me all excited for this Fall's trends one of which being burgundy/wine :)
It was so wonderful chatting with new & old friends as well as finally being able to meet the faces behind some of my favorite blogs! There were so many great outfits & unique styles at the swap that I had to try & capture them all which is why this post is so picture heavy :) To see more shots from yesterday's event check out Pich & Roor's Facebook Page!
On my way home on the metro I spotted these two stylish bffs! First off how cute are their matching flats?! I love each of their unique styles from the non-traditional ombre to the strong blue lipstick, so I had to snap a quick picture :) Hope you all had a fantastic weekend, I can't believe how quickly this one flew by!
